Located near the south bank of the Missouri River, just west of Kansas City, Independence is the largest suburb on the Missouri side of the Kansas City metropolitan area and the fifth largest city in the Show Me State. It is a city known for its rich history and thriving community.

Independence is nicknamed “The Queen City of the Trails” for its role as the “jumping-off point” in American Westward Expansion during the 1800s. Three major trails, the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon, all converged in Independence, making this the last town many pioneers visited before traveling westward.
